We’re entering the -ber months, which means plenty of falling leaves! 🍂 While they look pretty, they don’t belong in our storm drains.
Stormwater
Stormwater runoff is rainfall that does not soak into the ground. As water flows over rooftops, lawns, streets, and parking lots, it can collect pollutants and debris that eventually enter local streams, creeks, and rivers.
Stormwater Map
Use the interactive Stormwater Map to explore how surface water flows throughout Sandy Springs.
The map allows users to:

- View stormwater infrastructure in specific neighborhoods
- Zoom into detailed map areas
- Enable aerial imagery through the basemap gallery
- Create downloadable maps using the print tool

Neighborhood Storm Drain Marking Program
Residents can help prevent stormwater pollution by participating in the Sandy Springs Storm Drain Marking Program.
Storm drain markers are colorful signs installed near storm drains to remind the public that anything entering a storm drain may flow directly into nearby streams, creeks, and rivers.
The City provides participating neighborhoods with the materials needed to mark storm drains. Volunteers assist by installing the markers throughout their communities.
This program is designed as a community volunteer opportunity that promotes environmental awareness and water quality protection.
