Fire Marshal's Office
The Fire Marshal’s Office (FMO) works to prevent loss of life, injuries, and property damage caused by fire through education, engineering, and enforcement.
New Construction, Plan Review and Inspections
The Fire Marshal’s Office conducts plan reviews and construction inspections for new developments, commercial buildings, renovations, and remodels of existing structures.
Reviews are also conducted for significant modifications to fire protection systems, including fire sprinklers, fire alarms, kitchen suppression systems, and clean agent systems.
The Fire Marshal’s Office also reviews plans for single-family homes with sprinkler systems.
Existing Building Regulations
The Fire Marshal’s Office conducts inspections of existing buildings and structures to educate property owners and staff about fire hazards and identify fire code violations that require correction.
Inspection records are maintained to identify recurring issues and trends that may require additional attention or mitigation efforts.
Private Fire Hydrant Regulations and Inspections
Property owners are responsible for the testing and maintenance of all fire hydrants not located within the public right-of-way. Testing and maintenance must be completed by qualified contractors.
