Alcohol Pouring Permits
All individuals employed to dispense, sell, serve, take orders for, or mix alcoholic beverages in Sandy Springs are required to hold a Pouring Permit.
Individuals in managerial positions supervising these activities are also required to hold a Pouring Permit.
Your Pouring Permit is associated with the establishment’s Alcoholic Beverage License .
If you work for multiple establishments, you must obtain a separate Pouring Permit for each business.
If you stop working for one establishment and begin working for another, your permit must be updated accordingly.

The cost of a Pouring Permit is $50, and permits are valid for one year from the date of issuance.
Permits are not transferable between cities or counties.
Applying for a Pouring Permit
Pouring Permits may be obtained at Sandy Springs Police Headquarters, 620 Morgan Falls Road, between 8 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.
Applicants will be provided with the required documentation and must complete a criminal background check conducted by the Sandy Springs Police Department.
Valid identification is required. Copies of identification documents will not be accepted.
Non-U.S. residents must provide additional identification verifying employment eligibility.
Pouring Permit Restrictions
A Pouring Permit will not be issued if, within five years of the application date, the applicant has:
- Been convicted of a felony
- Pled guilty or entered a plea of nolo contendere to a felony
- Been convicted of a misdemeanor involving moral turpitude
- Been convicted of a sexual-related offense
- Been convicted of an offense related to alcoholic beverages, controlled substances, taxes, or gambling
A permit will also not be issued if the applicant has not completed parole or probation before submitting the application.
These restrictions apply to offenses under the laws of Georgia, other U.S. states, the federal government, and other countries.
First offender sentencing status is not considered a conviction if probation was successfully completed without violations and no adjudication of guilt was entered.
Serving Alcohol at Events
An Event Permit (opens in new tab) is required to host a public or private event in Sandy Springs.
To serve alcohol at an event, one of the following conditions must be met:
- The business entity holding the Event Permit must also hold an Alcoholic Beverage License , and all employees serving alcohol must hold Pouring Permits associated with that license.
- The event organizer must contract with an alcoholic beverage caterer holding a valid Alcoholic Beverage License issued by the City of Sandy Springs, and the caterer’s staff must hold associated Pouring Permits.
Pouring Permits are issued only to individuals actively employed by a business holding a valid Alcoholic Beverage License issued by the City of Sandy Springs.
