Social Media In Emergency Situations

During an emergency, we want to get pertinent information to you quickly.  Sandy Springs Alerts is one communications tool, which helps the City and County relay important weather news to you.  Our tornado sirens are also used when tornado warnings are issued for our area.

During an emergency, we also utilize social media to help get the word out.  Twitter - @SandySpringsGA - is used to report on road closings, traffic issues and emergency information.  Facebook is a general community news page, and during an emergency, it is a central resource for issuing information as well as taking in your input.  Sandy Springs Police also has a Facebook page used for breaking news related to police matters / public safety.
