Post Date:05/10/2021 11:59 am

It's almost time to join family and friends as we once again Take it to the River for the annual Lantern Parade scheduled for Saturday, June 5 at Morgan Falls Overlook Park.

Pre-parade activities in the Steel Canyon Golf Club parking lot (460 Morgan Falls Road) will run from 7 – 9 p.m. and will feature food, entertainment, and children’s activities. The parade will step off at 9:15 p.m. to make its way down to Morgan Falls Overlook Park where participants will be able to catch a glimpse of some spectacular floating lanterns on the river!

Need a lantern? Feeling creative? Stop by the Sandy Springs Farmers Market on Saturday, May 22 and May 29 from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. and pick up a lantern kit. Globe lantern kits, illuminated parasol kits, swallowtail butterfly lantern kits, and easy accordion lantern kits will be for sale ranging from $5-$30. Ace Hardware (6348 Roswell Road) and High Country Outfitters (3960 Roswell Road) will also sell kits, and a free template will also be available to download from the City’s website.

Flying pig lanterns will also be available to purchase at all of the locations.  Want to help the lead the parade? If you make a flying pig lantern you get to march in the front of the parade with Sanderson and the swoop of pigs!  Hang onto your flying pig lantern and you can also join Sanderson at the Sparkle Parade that kicks off the holidays at City Springs – more details on that later.

Parking and shuttle service for the parade will be available along Morgan Falls Road.
