2026 General Election 

On November 3, 2026, Sandy Springs voters will consider two ballot items:

TSPLOST 2026 Renewal

The five-year Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (TSPLOST) renewal would continue funding local transportation improvements. It would not increase the existing 0.75% sales tax — equal to three-quarters of one penny per dollar — approved by voters in 2021.

If approved, TSPLOST would help fund sidewalks, traffic safety and congestion relief, road maintenance and paving, multi-use paths, and pedestrian and bicycle improvements.

Redevelopment Powers

Redevelopment powers are tools available under Georgia law that allow a city, with voter approval, to consider redevelopment plans and financing mechanisms such as tax allocation districts to support public improvements in designated redevelopment areas.

These powers were not included when Sandy Springs incorporated in 2005 because the original City Charter focused on establishing the new municipal government and delivering core city services. Under Georgia law, redevelopment powers are not automatic; they require specific legislative authorization and approval by voters.

If approved, the Redevelopment Powers referendum would give the City of Sandy Springs legal authority under Georgia’s Redevelopment Powers Law to consider these tools in the future.

Approval of the referendum would not increase taxes, create a tax allocation district, issue bonds, or approve or fund any specific project. It would only give the City the ability to evaluate redevelopment tools in the future. Any future use of those tools would require public review and separate approvals.

Key Dates and Deadlines

Voter Registration Deadline: Monday, October 5, 2026. 

Early Voting: Tuesday, October 13-Friday, October 30, 2026.  A list of early voting locations and times was available through the Fulton County Early Voting Locations page.

Election Day: Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Polls will open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Each elector's polling place is listed on their voter registration card and can also be found on the Georgia Secretary of State's My Voter Page.

The Fulton County Voter Registration Office (404-730-7072) handles voter registration for all Fulton County residents. You must be registered to vote in an election and registered as a resident of the area in which you intend to vote. Registration must be completed at least 29 days before Election Day.

To register to vote, you must be a United States citizen, a legal resident of Georgia and the county in which you wish to vote, and at least 17.5 years old (you must be 18 years old to cast a ballot). You may not register if you are serving a sentence for a felony conviction or have been declared mentally incompetent by a judge.

Registration is also available when renewing or applying for a driver's license through the Georgia Department of Driver Services. College students may obtain voter registration forms through their school's registrar or academic affairs office.

How Do I Confirm My Registration Status?

To confirm your registration status, visit the Georgia Secretary of State's My Voter Page.

Georgia voters must present one of the following valid forms of photo identification when voting in person:

• A Georgia driver's license, including an expired license
• A valid state or federal government-issued photo ID
• A valid U.S. passport
• A valid government employee photo ID
• A valid U.S. military photo ID
• A valid Tribal photo ID

Voters who do not have one of the acceptable forms of identification may obtain a Georgia Voter Photo ID card free of charge through the Georgia Department of Driver Services or the Fulton County Registration and Elections Department.

Absentee Ballot Procedures

Fulton County registered voters may visit the Georgia Secretary of State Elections page to download an absentee ballot application for state-held elections.

The completed application may be mailed to Fulton County Voter Registration, 130 Peachtree Street SW, Suite 2186, Atlanta, GA 30303, or faxed to 404-612-3697.

If you are unable to download the application, Fulton County can mail one to you. Completed ballots must be received by Fulton County no later than 7 p.m. on Election Day. For additional information, call 404-730-7072.
