Street Lighting

City of Sandy Springs street lights are installed exclusively to illuminate public streets, roads, and sidewalks with the goal of improving safety for motorists and pedestrians.

Neighborhood Lighting Cost-Sharing Program

For citizen- or neighborhood-initiated street light requests seeking City of Sandy Springs standard decorative street lights, the City offers a cost-sharing program as outlined in Sections I–II of the Street Light Policy.

Applicants may submit requests to participate in the cost-sharing program for new residential street lights only during the annual open enrollment period, which ends March 15 each year.

Requests are prioritized based on the total projected cost to the City after costs are shared with the applicant. Requests with lower projected City costs relative to other applications will receive priority until fiscal-year funding is exhausted.

Citizens and neighborhoods will receive funding as long as allocated funds remain available. Once funding for the budget cycle has been exhausted, unfunded requests will automatically be reconsidered during the next open enrollment period.

Street Light Outages
