Roswell Road/Grogans Ferry Road Improvements

Construction is active at the intersection of Roswell Road and Grogans Ferry. Improvements include realignment of the Roswell Road/Grogans Ferry intersection, a new traffic signal, pedestrian lighting, sidewalks, and a raised landscaped median on Roswell Road. The purpose of the project is to improve safety and operational efficiency.

Project Status - Spring 2022: A traffic shift is in effect on Grogans Ferry for road realignment. Contractors are currently working on grading, wall construction as well as concrete work for the curb, gutters and sidewalks. There will be intermittent lane closures on Roswell Road between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Description

The current intersection is served by stop sign control on side street approaches, with travel speeds on Roswell Road too high for existing conditions. Between 2014 and 2016, there were 27 accidents and 56 injuries reported related to this intersection. The proposed project realigns the intersection and installs a traffic signal. It also provides access management in keeping with The Next Ten Small Area Plan for Roswell Road which calls for the development of functional boulevard areas.   The project is included within the Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (T-SPLOST) program approved by voters in Sandy Springs and Fulton County as part of the T-SPLOST referendum passed in November 2016.
