Roswell Road North End Boulevard Project (Dunwoody Place to the Chattahoochee River)

Project Description

The project will improve safety and mobility for all users along Roswell Road between Dunwoody Place and Roberts Drive.

Planned improvements include:

  • A new signalized intersection between Roberts Drive and Dunwoody Place
  • A connector road between Roberts Drive and North River Parkway
  • A landscaped raised median along Roswell Road
  • Pedestrian lighting on both sides of Roswell Road
  • A 10- to 12-foot multi-use path on the east side of Roswell Road
  • A 6-foot sidewalk on the west side of Roswell Road

Project History

January 20, 2026 — City Council Meeting

The Mayor and City Council approved a change order for additional project scope and associated fees for the Roswell Road North End Boulevard Project with Heath & Lineback Engineers, Inc.

The Mayor and City Council also authorized submission of an Infrastructure and Capital Investment application to the Atlanta Regional Commission for the 2026 Transportation Improvement Program solicitation.

In addition, the Mayor and City Council approved a supplemental project framework agreement with the Georgia Department of Transportation for project design services.

July 16, 2024 — City Council Meeting

The Mayor and City Council approved a contract award to BCC Engineering, LLC d/b/a Heath and Lineback Engineers for design services.

Roswell Road is classified as a principal arterial roadway and serves as the primary north-south corridor through Sandy Springs, connecting the City of Roswell to Interstate 285 and surrounding areas.

Roswell Road currently includes two travel lanes in each direction with a center two-way left-turn lane.

Six intersections or major driveways are located within the project corridor.

Existing sidewalks are located along portions of the west side of Roswell Road between Dunwoody Place and the first driveway of River Ridge Office Park.

The corridor also includes striped pedestrian crosswalks with pedestrian signals at the Roswell Road and Dunwoody Place intersection.

Six MARTA bus stops within the project area currently provide transit access for residents and businesses.

2026 Public Information Open House

A Public Information Open House was held on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at Sandy Springs Middle School.

The public comment period remained open through February 24, 2026.

A Public Open House was held on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at Sandy Springs Middle School.

The open house provided the public with an opportunity to review proposed improvements, ask questions, and provide feedback.

Public comments were accepted through Wednesday, March 12, 2025.
