Roberts Drive Multi-Use Side Path

Project Description

The proposed project would construct approximately 2.2 miles of shared-use side path along the south side of Roberts Drive, from Dunwoody Place to Roswell Road.

The project is planned in two phases.

Phase 1 begins at Dunwoody Place and travels north to the new Roberts Drive bridge over State Route 400. The phase continues past the bridge to a midblock crossing near Summer Crossing.

Phase 2 begins at the midblock crossing and continues north to Roswell Road.

The goal of the project is to create a safer and more comfortable walking and biking environment while improving connectivity to parks and greenspace throughout Sandy Springs.

Public Engagement

A public open house was held on Monday, October 28, at Sandy Springs Middle School, located at 8750 Pride Place.

Project History

Roberts Drive Scoping Report

Existing sidewalks are primarily located adjacent to developed residential and commercial areas. However, many gaps remain within the sidewalk network, requiring pedestrians to travel along roadway shoulders in some locations.

The Roberts Drive corridor is primarily residential and includes single-family homes, townhomes, and apartment communities.

Commercial properties are concentrated near Roswell Road, while the southern end of the corridor near Dunwoody Place is primarily composed of single-story office buildings.
