Fire Station 1
1425 Spalding Drive, Sandy Springs, GA 30350
MapStatus: Construction on the new fire station is scheduled to begin in fall 2026, with an estimated completion date of December 2027.
Description:
The Fire Station 1 Project is a critical public safety initiative that will replace the existing station with a modern facility designed to enhance emergency response operations, firefighter health and safety, and long-term service delivery to the community.
Located at 1425 Spaulding Drive, the project includes the construction of a new two-story, approximately 24,000-square-foot fire station designed to accommodate current and future operational needs. The facility will feature multiple apparatus bays, modern decontamination and gear storage areas, administrative offices, training and conference space, fitness and wellness facilities, and living quarters to support 24-hour staffing.
The project also includes significant site improvements such as upgraded parking, landscaping, stormwater management infrastructure, enhanced traffic circulation, and emergency vehicle access. The new station is designed to improve response times, support regional mutual aid operations, enhance firefighter readiness, and provide a resilient public safety facility capable of serving the community for decades to come.
Background:
Originally constructed in 1968, Fire Station 1 serves as one of the Sandy Springs Fire Department’s primary emergency response locations and plays an important role in providing fire suppression, rescue, and emergency medical services throughout the city. The station supports daily operations for frontline apparatus and personnel and contributes to regional mutual aid response efforts.
Due to the age, size, and functional limitations of the existing facility, a complete replacement is necessary to meet current fire service standards, operational requirements, and the growing needs of the Sandy Springs community.
