Path 400 Multiuse Trail Extension

Path 400 Multiuse Trail Extension

Description

The Path 400 Multiuse Trail will extend the existing 5.1-mile path from Loridans Drive north to the GA 400/I-285 interchange.

Status – Spring 2026

Construction is underway on Segments 1 and 3 and is expected to be completed in early 2028.

Segment 2 received an $18 million investment from the Atlanta Regional Commission in 2025, enabling construction bidding. A contractor has been selected, and construction on Segment 2 is expected to begin in Summer 2026 and take approximately three years to complete.

Project Description

The Path 400 Multiuse Trail will extend the existing 5.1-mile path from Loridans Drive north to the GA 400/I-285 interchange. The path will be built primarily within the existing Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) right-of-way along GA 400. The extension will also provide connectivity to proposed multiuse paths on Peachtree Dunwoody Road and Mt. Vernon Highway.

The Path 400 project is included within the Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (T-SPLOST) program approved by voters in Sandy Springs and Fulton County as part of the November 2016 referendum. The project was also included in the voter-approved TSPLOST 2 referendum in November 2021.

It will extend from Loridans Drive to the southern part of the City of Sandy Springs inside the Perimeter. The proposed project will construct a 1.8-mile portion of the trail located within Sandy Springs, which will ultimately total 2.3 miles.

The project has been divided into three segments, the limits of which have been adjusted to fully utilize current construction funding. Segments 1 and 3 will be constructed as part of this phase of the project. Segment 2 received an $18 million investment from the Atlanta Regional Commission, which the City is matching, providing the funding necessary to construct this segment of Path 400. Construction on Segment 2 is expected to begin in Summer 2026 and take approximately three years to complete.
