The City's First New Station in More Than 50 Years

SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. (Oct. 11, 2022) — The City of Sandy Springs will host a ribbon cutting at Fire Station 2, located at 135 Johnson Ferry Road. The new two-story station consists of approximately 21,144 square feet and replaces the prior station built in 1969. The public is invited to the event.

When: Thursday, Oct. 20, 11:00 a.m.

\n\n

Where: Fire Station 2, 135 Johnson Ferry Road

\n\n

Parking will be available at the City Springs Parking Garage, 1 Galambos Way.

\n\n

Fire Station 2 Community Tours

\n\n

The community is invited to tour the new station during an open house that weekend, Saturday, Oct. 22 and Sunday, Oct. 23 from noon to 4 p.m.

Background

\n\n

SSFD Station 2 contains a three-bay apparatus storage room with adjacent support areas, a decontamination shower along with state-of-the-art equipment for firefighters to remove toxins after returning from fighting a fire, equipment storage, gear wash, kitchen, conference room, offices, sleeping quarters, restrooms, fitness room, and training areas.
