Sandy Springs to Host Springway Trail Ribbon Cutting

April 16, 2025

The City of Sandy Springs hopes to add a little spring in everybody's step with the official opening of the Springway Trail. On Friday, May 2, at 1:00 p.m., the City will host a ribbon cutting ceremony for the highly anticipated trail — the first segment completed from its Trail Master Plan.

The scenic 1.88-mile segment will provide access to the Chattahoochee River, connecting Morgan Falls Overlook Park to Roswell Road at Cimarron Parkway. The project included an 8'–12' wide multi-use, paved trail and retaining walls, a picturesque top-down boardwalk across Orkin Lake, drainage structures, pedestrian bridges, roadway realignments, landscaping, and trail signage.

Constructed by the City of Sandy Springs in partnership with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, the Georgia Outdoor Stewardship Program, the PATH Foundation, and the Sandy Springs Conservancy, the Springway Trail cost $8.5 million and included a $3 million Georgia Outdoor Stewardship Program Grant.

Parking for the event is available in the parking lot adjacent to the Morgan Falls Dog Park at 100 Morgan Falls Road.
