Sandy Springs to Hold Groundbreaking Ceremony for New Fire Station

SANDY SPRINGS, GA (March 2, 2023) -- Mark your calendar for the groundbreaking of Sandy Springs Fire Station 5, the City’s newest fire station.  City officials will participate in the groundbreaking ceremony for the new station at 7800 Mount Vernon Road on Thursday, March 16 at 2:30 p.m.

Sandy Springs Fire Station 5 will be an approximately 10,912 square feet two-story structure, containing a two-bay apparatus storage room, decontamination showers, and gear wash, and storage areas.

The City’s “panhandle area” is currently served by Fire Station No. 51, located on Spalding Drive at Roberts Road, with support from Engine 55, housed at the City of Roswell’s Fire Station No. 27 on Holcomb Bridge Road. Response time to reach some areas within this district can take from 10 to 15 minutes. The new station is designed to blend in with the residential character of the neighborhood and will significantly reduce response times by as much as seven minutes.

During the fall of 2022, the Sandy Springs City Council approved a $8,400,000 construction contract, awarded to Reeves and Young.
