The City of Sandy Springs is pleased to announce that Carter Long has been appointed Director of Communications and Public Relations.

Carter, who most recently served as President of Lou Hammond Group (LHG) Atlanta, brings over a decade of experience in public relations and integrated communications focused on destinations, hotels, resorts, cruise lines, and lifestyle brands to the company’s Atlanta office. In this role, she expanded LHG’s Southern portfolio, including Athens, GA, Cobb County, GA, Jekyll Island, Cartersville, and Newnan-Coweta County, leveraging her regional expertise and national contacts. Her value for personal relationships and her ability to develop meaningful media connections have resulted in extensive coverage for clients across national print, digital, and broadcast outlets.

Skilled in crisis communications, Carter led recovery strategies for brands impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and other crises. Before joining the Lou Hammond Group, Carter gained extensive hospitality sector knowledge at award-winning PR agencies, where she directed numerous PR and media relations programs on local and global scales, including for the City of Dunwoody. She has also served as an on-camera spokesperson for Party City and a private island resort in the Florida Keys.

The Communications and Public Relations Director is responsible for managing, enhancing, and protecting the city's reputation and brand. The Director oversees all aspects of public relations, communications, and community engagement strategies for the City of Sandy Springs.
