City Of Sandy Springs to Host Public Input Sessions on T-SPLOST 2021 Projects

April 12, 2021

Post Date:04/12/2021 3:00 pm
The City of Sandy Springs will host two virtual information sessions on Monday, April 26, 2021, to solicit input from the community regarding transportation projects for inclusion on the City’s Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (T-SPLOST) project list.

The first session will occur at 11:30 a.m., and the second session will take place at 6 p.m. that same day. Both sessions will contain the same information. Following the meetings, the presentation and proposed projects will be posted online at spr.gs/TSPLOST2021 for public comment until Friday, May 7, 2021. Meeting information: spr.gs/TSPLOST2021.

The community will also have in-person opportunities to provide input on the proposed projects by visiting the City’s booth at the Sandy Springs Farmers Market on Saturday, May 1, and Saturday, May 8, 2021.

Citizens throughout Fulton County will have the opportunity to vote in November 2021 on a five-year T-SPLOST referendum to fund transportation projects in municipalities throughout the county. The T-SPLOST referendum would extend the existing 0.75% (3/4 of a cent) sales tax approved by voters in November 2016.

On November 8, 2016, Fulton County voters, including residents of Sandy Springs, approved the Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (T-SPLOST), a referendum to fund transportation improvements within the participating cities. The 0.75 percent (3/4 of a cent) sales tax collection began in April 2017 to fund T-SPLOST transportation projects.

All cities must present their lists of potential projects for T-SPLOST to Fulton County by June 2021. Fulton County will create a final list in July 2021. If authorized, the vote will take place in November 2021.
