Sandy Springs City Council Approves Path 400 Trail Extension Construction

May 22, 2024

The City of Sandy Springs is one step closer to connecting to the Path 400 Trail, as the City Council awarded F.S. Scarbrough the construction contract valued at $20,150,923.94.

The construction of this project will be funded through a combination of local and federal funds through the Georgia Department of Transportation. Additionally, on January 2, 2024, the city approved an intergovernmental agreement with the City of Atlanta to pay for a portion of the project that will be constructed within the Atlanta city limits.

The Path 400 Trail Extension is the northern segment of PATH 400, a 5.2-mile walkable, bikeable trail, being constructed adjacent to State Route 400. It will extend from Loridans Drive to the southern part of the City of Sandy Springs inside the Perimeter. The proposed project will construct a 1.8-mile portion of the trail located within the limits of Sandy Springs, which will ultimately total 2.3 miles.

The project has been divided into three segments, the limits of which have been adjusted to fully utilize the current construction funding. Segments 1 and 3 will be constructed as part of this project. Segment 2 can be constructed when funds become available. Segment one extends north from Nancy Creek to Windsor Parkway. Segment 3 will extend north from Ridgeview Park to north of the Glenridge Connector, connecting to the multi-use trail constructed as part of the Transform 285/400 project.
