Sandy Springs City Council Approves Contract for Canoe, Kayak, and Paddleboard Rentals

March 19, 2024

Sandy Springs, GA — (March 19, 2024) During the City Council meeting on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, the Sandy Springs City Council approved a contract award to Murphs Surf River Adventures LLC to provide canoe, kayak, and paddleboard operations and rentals at Morgan Falls Overlook Park. The contract, valued at $100,500 over five years, marks an exciting development in enhancing recreational opportunities in the community.

Under the terms of the agreement, Murphs Surf River Adventures will operate at the Paddle Shack located at 200 Morgan Falls Road. Residents and visitors will have access to quality gear to enjoy their time on the water. With a proven track record operating at multiple locations across Georgia, Murphs Surf River Adventures brings a wealth of experience in rental operations, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable experience for patrons. The decision follows the conclusion of the contract term with the previous operator, High Country.

“We have greatly enjoyed the partnership we have shared with High Country over the years and wish them well in their future endeavors,” says Brent Walker, Director of Recreation and Parks. “We look forward to beginning the new partnership with Murphs Surf River Adventures and know our residents and visitors will continue to enjoy all the Chattahoochee River has to offer.”

As the transition to Murphs Surf River Adventures occurs, details regarding the Paddle Shack's reopening date will be communicated to the public and available on the City’s website.
