The City of Sandy Springs will kick off the school year and honor local law enforcement with its annual Back to School Bash – A National Night Out Event. This year’s festivities are supported by the Sandy Springs Police, Sandy Springs Fire, and Sandy Springs Recreation and Parks Departments.

 Highlights include:

  • Explore police cars, fire trucks, a mobile command center, and SWAT trucks.
  • Witness helicopter landings on Mount Vernon Highway.
  • Enjoy a giant inflatable obstacle course, free shaved ice, balloon art, and carnival games.
  • Dance to music with a DJ.
  • Experience lifelike dinosaurs from Prehistoric Nation.

Participating agencies include the FBI, Secret Service, DEA, GBI, Georgia State Patrol, and more.

Movies by Moonlight

Date: Friday, August 8, 2025; Friday, September 5, 2025; Friday, October 3, 2025
Time: Heritage Amphitheater & outdoor concession stands open at 7 p.m.; Movie begins after sunset.
Location: Heritage Amphitheatre Lawn, 6110 Blue Stone Road, Sandy Springs, GA 30328

The city is excited to bring back Movies by Moonlight for its third season—offering three special nights where families can enjoy classic films under the stars with neighbors and friends. Kicking off on Friday, August 8 at the Heritage Amphitheatre with a screening of The Parent Trap (PG, 1998), this year's series is a nostalgic nod to the '90s. We're celebrating millennial throwbacks. It's a unique chance to relive your childhood favorites in a magical outdoor setting.

Following this, join the City for A Goofy Movie (G) on September 5 and Practical Magic on October 3. Please be aware that Practical Magic is rated PG-13 due to some violent scenes and mature themes. The films will begin just after sunset, on a 30ft inflatable screen.

Helpful tips for planning your visit:
Moviegoers are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs for a cozy and comfortable viewing experience. With the Amphitheatre’s unique tiered lawn seating, it's one of the best places around to enjoy a movie under the stars. The outdoor lobby and concession stand open at 7:00 p.m., offering a variety of snacks and drinks for purchase. Back by popular demand, don’t miss the Moonlight Mocktail, featuring a glowing ice cube.  Admission is free to all three movies.
