Litter and Graffiti

Maintaining a city that residents can take pride in, and appreciate the natural beauty of, is a priority for City of Sandy Springs officials. The City's litter ordinance carries fines for littering and graffiti that range from $100 to $1000, depending on the specifics of the offense.

City maintenance crews routinely remove trash and debris from the city's streets and right-of-ways, and public lawn areas enjoy a regular schedule with the lawn mowers to ensure public areas are neat.

In our residential and business areas, we depend on the property owners to help with maintaining the city's overall appearance.  Ordinances are in place providing expectations, and residents are able to notify the City of areas that fall outside compliance standards by calling 770.730.5600 and asking to speak with a Code Enforcement Officer.

The goal of the City's Code Enforcement division is to obtain voluntary compliance. In cases where compliance is not obtained, the Code Enforcement Officer has the authority to issue a Notice of Violation or a Citation. Penalties can include, but are not limited to, fines and /or a required appearance in Municipal Court.
