Gallery at City Springs

The Gallery at City Springs features rotating exhibits produced by local artists. The Gallery is open during City Hall hours. 

Current Exhibit

The current exhibit features the work of Debra Nadelhoffer and will be on display through September 2024. 

About the featured artist:

A self-taught artist for over 40 years, Debra Nadelhoffer loved color and creating as a child.  As a young adult Debra was married and living in a rural area, and it was not easy or affordable to take art classes. She painted from home while raising her family, studying books and working first with watercolor, then pastels and finally oils. As her family grew, she went to work and began to take life classes in the evenings after her youngest child left for college. Debra found time to paint at night and on the weekends working in oils and pastels. 

Debra Nadelhofer is the former seven-year President of the Southeastern Pastel Society. She taught weekly classes at Chastain Arts Center for 14 years and currently teaches Oil Painting at the Abernathy Arts Center here in Sandy Springs.

Most recently, Debra has received Signature Status with Oil Painters of America (OPA), was accepted into both the 2024 National Exhibition and the 2023 Eastern Regional. She received the AWARD of EXCELLENCE for a Seascape in the 2021 OPA 30th National Exhibition in Escondido CA.  She was accepted into the 18th National American Society of Marine Artists (ASMA) Exhibition travelling to five  museums from March 2020-March 2021, the 2019 Eastern Regional OPA exhibition in Birmingham AL, and the19th Annual American Impressionists Society (AIS) Exhibition.

Her paintings have been included in the 27th National Oil Painters of America Exhibition, American Society of Marine Artists Invitational at Principle Gallery, and her painting The Crossing won the Best Building in a Landscape award in the June/July 2017 Plein Air Salon competition, Oil Painters of America Eastern Regional Exhibition 2017, American Impressionists Society Small Works Show 2016,

In the artist’s words:

“I have found my passion painting the landscape in oils and pastels with all its many moods, trying to share my vision with the viewer. I particularly love painting the mountains, coast and water anywhere. My greatest compliment is when someone says my paintings make them feel like they are there.”
