Fire Extinguisher Requirements

Portable fire extinguishers must be sized and located in accordance with the International Fire Code and NFPA 10.  Fire extinguishers must be tested annually and bear a ‘Verification of Service’ collar located around the neck of the extinguishers.  Portable extinguishers that are purchased from a retail store will not meet the Verification of Service requirement.  Portable extinguishers shall not be obstructed from view.

The Sandy Springs Fire Department offers free training on the use of portable fire extinguishers.
