Fire Chief

Interim Fire Chief Jesse Bernard joined the Sandy Springs Fire Department in 2015 and has more than 25 years of experience in fire service, emergency management, and public safety leadership.

Prior to joining Sandy Springs, Chief Bernard served in fire departments in Indiana and Georgia. 

Since joining Sandy Springs, Chief Bernard has served as Fire Inspector, Deputy Fire Marshal, Division Chief/Fire Marshal,  and Division Chief of Operations

Chief Bernard holds an Associate of Applied Science in Fire Science, a Bachelor of Arts in Public Safety Administration, and a Master of Science in Management with a concentration in Leadership and Organizational Effectiveness.

He is credentialed as a Chief Fire Officer (CFO) and Fire Marshal (FM) through the Center for Public Safety Excellence (CPSE) and is committed to advancing professional excellence, developing future leaders, and providing exceptional service to the Sandy Springs community.
