Sandy Springs Conservancy's Geocaching Event 2021

Monday, October 11

Geocaching is an outdoor recreational activity in which participants use a GPS receiver or mobile device and other navigational techniques to find containers “geocaches” at specific locations marked by coordinates all over the world. For more information, visit www.geocaching.com.

The Sandy Springs Conservancy purchased Geocoins for people to search and will be placed in our local parks and trails to encourage residents and visitors to get outdoors now that the weather is cooling down. They will place the devices in hidden areas throughout the parks secured with zip ties. To celebrate our 20th Anniversary, SSC will hide 20 caches.

Participants will have to download the Geocaching App with GPS on their phone. The Free option allows players to find up to 3 per day across the parks.  If they are already geocaching with their paid monthly subscription, they can search unlimited per day.

The theme is “Hide and Seek: An Outdoor Adventure!”  and this event is designed for families with children in grades K-5th.

The planned locations are:

  • Morgan Falls Overlook Park
  • Marsh Creek Rain Garden
  • Windsor Meadows Park

Venue: Morgan Falls Overlook Park
