Razing Cane: The Destruction of Rivercane &  the Effect on the Ecosystem of the Southeast

Join Alan Toney, Master Naturalist, as we explore the lost world of native Giant Rivercane that once covered 10 million acres across the Southeastern US and was essential to Native American culture. Rivercane formed vast impenetrable thickets called canebrakes.  What happened to these bamboo forests and to the birds and animals that lived there? There are remnants along the Chattahoochee River and even one in downtown Sandy Springs. Are canebrakes lost forever or could they be restored?
