Proposed Sandy Springs Cultural Center
The proposed Sandy Springs Cultural Center supports goals outlined in the City Center Master Plan and The Next Ten Comprehensive Plan by helping create a vibrant, walkable civic and cultural destination for the community.
The project is intended to strengthen the City Springs district as a center for arts, culture, public gathering, and community identity.
Planning Background
The City Center Master Plan , adopted in 2012, identifies the importance of civic facilities and community gathering spaces that support arts, cultural programming, and public events.
In addition, the The Next Ten Comprehensive Plan , adopted in 2016, identifies the City Springs district as a unique, vibrant, and walkable civic and cultural center for Sandy Springs.
Public Feedback Opportunities
The Sandy Springs City Council accepted public comment regarding the proposed cultural center during its April 20, 2021 meeting.
Community members were invited to provide feedback in the following ways:
- Complete the Cultural Center Survey .
The survey included questions such as:
- What additional programming should take place in the cultural center beyond the Anne Frank in the World exhibit and Georgia Commission for the Holocaust exhibits?
- Do you support using public funds to construct and operate a cultural center?
- Submit public comment during the April 20, 2021 City Council meeting.

Project Timeline
2015–2016
The City began discussions about a potential cultural center in 2015. A programming workshop was held in 2016 to evaluate community needs and possible budget requirements.
2018
City Council received a project update presentation during the November 6, 2018 City Council meeting.
A public visioning session was held on November 29, 2018. View the presentation .
2019
The Public Facilities Authority approved a resolution supporting the development of a cultural center in partnership with the Georgia Commission on the Holocaust, subject to certain conditions.

During the April 6, 2021 City Council work session, the City Manager presented an updated overview of the proposed arts and culture facility .
