Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)
Have you ever wanted to help during an emergency?
If your answer is yes, consider becoming part of the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).
The Sandy Springs Fire Department offers CERT training for residents. The program provides training in basic emergency response skills for neighborhoods, community organizations, faith-based groups, and businesses. CERT members may then assist with emergency response efforts within their communities during times of need.
Participants learn basic disaster response skills, including fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations.
Using the training provided through classroom instruction and hands-on exercises, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an emergency event before professional responders arrive on scene.
For additional information or to schedule CERT training for your organization, contact Community Affairs Officer Freddie Pelzer at 678-491-6598 or email communityaffairs@sandyspringsga.gov .
