Alcoholic Beverage Licensing and Taxes

Wholesalers
Wholesalers selling alcoholic beverages to retailers in Sandy Springs are required to collect and remit excise taxes to the City.
Filing Requirements
Wholesale excise tax returns and payments are due on or before the 15th day of each month for the preceding calendar month.

Late Filing and Payment
Failure to file required returns or remit taxes may result in suspension or revocation of the wholesaler's license. Penalties and interest may also apply.

Retailers
Businesses selling alcoholic beverages directly to the public must obtain an Alcoholic Beverage License.
Applications are processed through the Permits and Revenue Office at Sandy Springs City Hall .
Liquor by the Drink Excise Taxes
Businesses selling liquor by the drink for on-premises consumption are required to collect and remit excise taxes to the City.
Returns and payments are due on or before the 20th day of each month for the preceding calendar month.
A completed Retail Excise Tax Return on Liquor by the Drink must accompany each filing.
Vendor Credit
Retailers who file and pay on or before the due date may retain:
- 3% of the first $3,000 in tax collected
- 0.5% of tax collected over $3,000
Late payments will result in the loss of the vendor credit and may be subject to penalties and interest.
