The City of Sandy Springs Recreation and Parks Department provides adaptive and inclusive programming to residents of all abilities, including those with physical disabilities and the neurodiverse. Our community-based programs are accessible and occur seasonally.
Adaptive Recreation Program Registration
Celebrate the start of winter with a Snow Day! Join us for an afternoon pajama party and movie matinee featuring, Frozen! Meet the characters, enjoy our hot chocolate and snack bar, and take home a goody bag!
Join us for a prom-themed dance where everyone will be crowned prom king and queen! A DJ will play dance music, food and refreshments will be served, and guests will take a souvenir photo and goody bag home.
This program allows children of varying abilities, both ambulatory and non-ambulatory, to learn basic gymnastics skills or work on general strength and mobility.
A dino-egg hunt, fossil dig, dino play yard, and photo opportunities with a prehistoric guest make this a full-on Junior Paleontologist event!
In partnership with Empower Therapy, Catalyst Sports, and the Department of Natural Resources, participants can access adaptive fishing equipment designed for individuals with limited hand function.
In partnership with Catalyst Sports, our adaptive kayaking program allows you to get out on the water and experience the maximum amount of independence while soaking in the sights and sounds of nature. Our lead kayak instructors are trained in ACA Adaptive Paddling and can adapt the kayaks with additional equipment to accommodate various needs.
Special Populations Tennis Program, Inc. (Special POPS) offers adaptive tennis specifically designed to share the lifetime sport of tennis with children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
