Taking It To The River for an Illuminated Night of Fun
June 10, 2017 - 8 p.m. with parade step-off at 9:00 p.m.
Mark your calendars for the 2nd annual Sandy Springs Lantern Parade. The parade will start at Steel Canyon Golf Club and end at Morgan Falls Park. Chantelle Rytter, the creator of the very successful Beltline, Grant Park and Decatur Lantern Parades, produces our unique “Take It to the River” Lantern Parade. This year, Chantelle will introduce two new swan lanterns known as Lilly and Billy for guests to enjoy. The swans will join Alice, the 25-foot albino alligator introduced to the community during our inaugural event, Big Mama Sandy, the turtle, and Jeremiah, the bullfrog, of course, accompanied by his lilies. High Country Outfitter paddlers will escort these lanterns to the river for a floating parade. Don’t miss this riveting light display. Attendees can watch the river light display while enjoying music and samples from our sponsors KIND and Bai!
Don't have a lantern? Make a lantern at home or take a lantern workshop with Chantelle Rytter. The cost of the workshop will cover all materials, instructions, and tools for attendees to walk away with an illuminated lantern. Take a look at lantern ideas and workshop galleries! All lanterns are lit with battery-operated LED’s (no live flames permitted). The lanterns are carried on sticks, not released.
Workshops will be held at Sandy Springs United Methodist Church located on Morgan Falls Road June 3-6. To register, click here.
