The City of Sandy Springs is committed to providing art and culture to the community through various programs and initiatives.

ArtSS in the Open - City Springs Art Walk

In partnership with Art Sandy Springs, the City launched the inaugural ArtSS in the Open, a public outdoor sculpture competition at City Springs.  Local, regional, and national artists were invited to make submissions for possible inclusion in an outdoor exhibit surrounding the City Green and City Springs.  The first sculpture garden was installed summer 2019 and the theme for the inaugural competition was “Inspired. By nature,” featuring  Nine sculptures  prominently displayed around the City Green. The City will purchase one or more sculptures from each annual competition to add to its growing public art collection. Sculptures purchased will be placed in permanent public locations around the city.

All submissions to the ArtSS in the Open competition should be made electronically through CaFE.org via their submission portal (callforentry.org). Artists with inquiries can ask for information at cfe@artsandysprings.org.

The City's policy establishes guidelines to ensure a consistent decision-making process related to the acceptance, placement and long-term maintenance of donations in parks and open spaces, such as natural areas and trail systems.

Guidelines are also provided for sustainable management of site-appropriate amenities, these public art pieces should be designed to integrate to the existing space and enhance the surrounding natural environment.
