Community Assistance Center

In response to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak, CAC has modified services to focus on serving families and individuals who have been hit the hardest by loss of income. CAC is concentrating efforts on providing food to families that need support and providing financial assistance to make sure that they stay in their homes.

CAC is Taking These Emergency Measures:  

  • All CAC facilities are closed to the public except for food distribution and food donations.

  • The Food Pantry is operating under a modified schedule and distribution system.
    (please visit the CAC’s website for the most up-to-date information)

  • Financial assistance services are conducted by phone and online.

  • Adult Education classes have moved online.

  • The Thrift Shop is closed until further notice.

  • No thrift donations (clothing, home goods etc.) until further notice.

  • VITA services are suspended until further notice.

How You Can Help Your Neighbors Impacted by the Coronavirus

The CAC Food Pantry is out of important staples. If you can donate food, the most needed items are listed below. 

You may bring donations to the CAC Food Pantry at 8607 Roswell Rd. Sandy Springs, GA 30350

Food Donation Times

  • The week of March 30: Monday 3/30, Wednesday 4/1 and Friday 4/3, 9:30 am – 1:30 pm

  • No Saturday hours.

Most Needed Food

  • Canned Meat: Tuna, Chicken, Beef Stew, Chili

  • Dried Beans

  • Canned Fruit

  • Cereal

  • Dry Pasta

  • Mixed Vegetables

  • Rice

  • Tomato Sauce

  • Milk Boxes for kids

  • Juice Boxes for Kids

 

Sandy Springs Mission

The Sandy Springs Mission is providing virtual tutoring for their students, offering one-on-one tutoring sessions. They are also working with local churches to collect and distribute food. Food can be dropped off in outside bins at Kairos Church located at 5855 Riverside Drive (at I-285) and the Church of the Redeemer located at 5185 Peachtree Dunwoody Road.

Solidarity Sandy Springs Food Pantry 

Solidarity Sandy Springs is a group of Sandy Springs residents who are concerned about the welfare of local children and families during the economic hardship caused by COVID19. Solidarity Sandy Springs is entirely volunteer run and depends on donations from our neighborhood supporters. They have opened up two pantries: Samad Grill - North River Shopping Center 8897 Roswell Road and Under the Cork Tree - Prado 5600 Roswell Road.

Goodwill Stores

Goodwill of North Georgia has closed their stores, attended donation centers and career centers for two weeks beginning Monday, March 23. they will continue to accept donations at store donor doors Monday –Saturday from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm.

All workforce development programs that can safely continue will do so, they have taken their mission-focused work online as there are a number of employers who need staff to meet critical needs during this time. Jobseekers are encouraged to visit their virtual career center at www.careerconnector.org or call 844.344.WORK (9675) for one-on-one job search support from their career coaches.   

WorkSource Fulton

Select Fulton is committed to supporting workers impacted by COVID-19. As the county’s workforce development program, WorkSource Fulton is identifying opportunities to continue to meet the employment needs of Fulton County residents by targeting job seekers and workforce development practitioners. 

WorkSource Fulton has moved its operations to a virtual one-stop due to the current closures of the Career Centers at North Fulton Service Center, South Fulton Annex, and Adamsville Regional Health Center. Job seekers are encouraged to visit  ATLWorks.org for information about employment and training services. 

Fulton Atlanta Community Action Authority

The Fulton Atlanta Community Action Authority (FACAA) provides a wide array of services to low-income individuals and families in Atlanta and Fulton County. Due to the ongoing threat of COVID-19, all FACAA offices will be closed to the public (beginning March 23, 2020). For individuals who already have an appointment scheduled, they will be served by phone. Please visit the FACAA website for more information.
