Six-Month Development Code Update
The City of Sandy Springs recently revised its Development Code and Zoning Map in their entirety, which were adopted August 15, 2017.
This page will be updated as new documents become available.
After working with the Development Code for a while, staff and the community identified several areas of the Code that need to be updated. Most of the proposed changes to the Code are simply housekeeping (such as fixing grammar errors and maintaining consistency throughout the document), yet a handful are policy-related. Please see the Summary of Proposed Changed below to know more about those majors changes. To see all the changes, including minor ones, please refer to the individual articles.
An error was made in the new designation of certain properties on the Zoning Map, and the City has initiated six changes to correct the mistakes - there is no land use change or construction associated with this rezoning.

2017 Development Code and Zoning Maps
The Sandy Springs Mayor and City Council adopted the new Development Code and Zoning Map during their August 15, 2017 meeting and it became effective September 15, 2017. The approval brings to a close the two-year, Next Ten planning process updating the City’s Comprehensive Plan and Development Code.

Work on the development code began late 2016 and continued through summer 2017, including a series of open houses, stakeholder meetings, drop-in hours at city hall, surveys, as well as emailed input from both residential and business property owners.
Character Area Map Amendment
The Mayor and City Council have amended the adopted Character Area Map at their meeting on November 21, 2017. The Character Area Map is intended to implement the Comprehensive Plan and guide the Zoning Map.
