On Saturday, April 6, 2019, City staff from the Public Works Department volunteered with Keep North Fulton Beautiful in the Sweep the Hooch event at Morgan Falls Park. These efforts were held as a part of an annual event that took place at 46 different sites across 100 miles of the Chattahoochee River. A group of 41 volunteers paddled the river collecting trash out of the water while another 18 volunteers picked up litter from the shorelines of the hooch. In total, the group managed to pull 80 bags of trash out of the river in one morning, at the Morgan Falls site. This equates to around 3,000 pounds of trash that is no longer polluting a main source of drinking water.
