City of Sandy Springs Residents' Property Tax Rate Remains Unchanged

August 6, 2010─ The Sandy Springs City Council announces a millage rate hearing will be held at City Hall on August 17, 2010, at 6:00 p.m. pursuant to Georgia Code. Currently, it remains at the rate of the City’s inception of 4.731 mills. In order for the millage rate to be changed, it would have to be brought before the residents in a vote. One mill produces $1 in tax for every $1,000 worth of property. The Mayor and City Councilmembers will vote on the millage rate ordinance after it is presented along with hearing the current year’s tax digest, levy and the history the tax digest and levy for the past four years.
