The Board of Appeals & Planning Commission Joint Retreat began at 9:30 am. All seven of the Board of Appeals Members were in attendance for all or most of the one day retreat. Those present included Chairman Ted Sandler, Vice Chair Eric Johnson, Members Sherri Allen, Colin Lichtenstein, Mel Mobley, Bill Thackston, and Alvin Johnson. Planning and Zoning Staff from the Community Development Department included - Catherine Mercier-Baggett, Matthew Anspach, Anthony Alston, Madalyn Smith, Louisa Tovars, Melvin Mungai and Veronica Chaffin, while other attending City Staff presented as listed on the agenda. This included Kristin Byars Smith from the City Manager's Office, Andrea Worthy from Economic Development, Allen Johnson from Public Works, Jesus Davila and James Sanders both from the Community Development Department, Building and Land Development, with all providing information on the topics outlined on the  retreat agenda. Mayor Paul, taking time from his busy schedule, also addressed the joint group discussing the challenges, purpose and other facets of conducting a public meeting. 

A few citizens attended during various parts of the retreat to listen to specific presentations, listed as follows: Maurice Hoelting, Shea Roberts, Joe Heins and Ronda Smith.

This joint retreat, for both the Board of Appeals and Planning Commission, was an informational meeting.

Per the agenda, speakers provided information to the group with discussion after each presentation.

No motions, actions or votes were taken.

The retreat was adjourned at approximately 2:35 p.m by Catherine Mercier-Baggett, Planning and Zoning Supervisor.
