Type: Part-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt
Location: Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center, Sandy Springs, GA

Seeking Prep Cook with experience in large scale commercial kitchen and special catered events including banquets (buffet and plated), upscale dinners, weddings, VIP dining events, etc.
Must have solid kitchen/culinary fundamentals, knowledge of kitchen safety and sanitation practices.
Must be well groomed and prepared to work in an ever changing, fast-paced environment.
Responsible for set-up, sanitation, cleaning and closing of workstation area.
Must be able to maintain excellent attendance, have reliable transportation and be available to work events as scheduled, based on business need.

Responsibilities:
• Able to operate standard kitchen equipment including the broiler, steamer, convection oven, mixer, meat slicer, chef’s knives and other necessary culinary tools.
• Responsible for providing high quality, fresh food products in a timely manner for delivery to guests
• Responsible for portioning, arranging and garnishing food plates for delivery to guests.
• Prepares hot and cold foods following company recipes and portioning requirements
• Responsible for observing and testing foods to ensure proper cooking.
• Responsible for reporting any maintenance required for kitchen equipment.
• Maintains sanitation, health and safety standards in work areas.
• Prepare and plate dishes as directed such as salads, entrees and desserts
• Ensure proper storage of all food
• Responsible for communicating clearly and effectively with Executive Chef, Sous Chef or Kitchen Supervisor to plan menus and estimate expected food production.
• Participates as a team player with specific responsibilities as related to preparation, excellent service and delivery of product.
• Responsible for reporting any maintenance required for kitchen equipment.
• Maintains sanitation, health and safety standards in work areas.
• Responsible for communicating clearly and effectively with Executive Chef, Sous Chef or Kitchen Supervisor to plan menus and estimate expected food production.
• Prepare and plate dishes as directed such as salads, entrees and desserts
• Ensure proper storage of all food
• Must show demonstrated ability to meet the company standard for excellent attendance.

Responsibilities may differ depending on business needs.

Qualifications:
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Must possess the ability to work independently.
• Must possess the ability to work well in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment.
• Must possess the ability to follow basic directions and to speak, read, write and understand English.
• Must be able to pass a background check, including credit, and a post-offer drug test.
• Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, days, evenings, weekends, holidays, extended (long) work days and extended number of days.

Physical demands:
• Must possess the ability to move at a fast pace.
• Must possess the ability to lift 40 up to pounds.

Schedule and Compensation
Part-time schedules are limited to a maximum of 29 hours per week. These positions may require work on holidays, nights and weekends. Part-time positions with the City of Sandy Springs are not eligible for any employment benefits.
