Riverview Road at Old Powers Ferry RoadAmenities:
- Road Project
- TSPLOST Projects
- TSPLOST: Intersection Improvement
- TSPLOST: Traffic Efficiency
Description: Realignment of intersection and construction of a roundabout.
Fall 2019: Project Update
Spring 2019: Final design and utility coordination underway.
Fall 2018: Roundabout design is underway. The City has completed the Geotechnical investigation of the intersection and has determined that it will not be necessary to construct concrete walls at the intersection. The existing slopes will be improved as needed and structurally secured while maintaining its natural look.
The current intersection is controlled by a two-way stop sign. There are sight distance issues throughout the intersection and a significant problem with side street delay on Riverview Road.
The City conducted a comprehensive traffic study as part of the concept design process. The results of the study show that the existing intersection performs poorly in both the morning and afternoon peak travel hours. There is insufficient stopping sight distance on Northside Drive, north of the intersection.
Two concepts were presented at a Feb. 1, 2018 public open house. Those concepts, along with the original configuration are available for review below.
If you have comments related to proposed concepts, please email those by Feb 28, 2018 to: firstname.lastname@example.org.
