Severe Winter Weather Court Rescheduling

The Municipal Court was closed on January 29-30 and February 12-13 due to severe winter weather events.

To all persons previously scheduled to appear in court on 2/12/2014 and 2/13/2014:

  • Persons previously scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, 2/12/2014 @10:00 A.M. have been rescheduled to Thursday, 3/20/2014 @ 9:00 A.M.
  • Persons previously scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, 2/13/2014 @ 9:00 A.M. have been rescheduled to Thursday, 3/27/2014 @ 9:00 A.M.
  • Persons previously scheduled for Bench Trials on Thursday, 2/13/2014 @ 2:00 P.M. have been rescheduled to Thursday, 3/27/2014 @ 2:00 P.M.


To all persons previously scheduled to appear in court on 1/29/2014 & 1/30/2014:

All notices have been mailed out via certified mail to the address that we have on file. If your address has changed since you received your citation it is your responsibility to inform the court. Sandy Springs Municipal Court can be reached at 770-206-2075. Office hours are Monday- Friday 8:00 A.M.-5:00 P.M.

The Sandy Springs Municipal Court considers the fair and timely adjudication of cases among its top priorities. Paramount to our approach is a customer-driven, service-oriented atmosphere in which victims, defendants and all other customers are treated with the utmost respect and concern, by a highly trained, efficient staff.

Principal activities of the Municipal Court include:

  • Conduct arraignments for all defendants charged with applicable traffic and criminal misdemeanors in the City of Sandy Springs. This is the defendants' opprotunity to enter a plea or negotiate a settlement in their cases. Felonies and certain criminal misdemeanors are prosecuted in the Fulton County State Court.

  • Hold bench trials for those defendants who have pleaded "not guilty." A bench trial is heard by a Judge as opposed to a jury. Jury trials are held in Fulton County State Court.

  • Adjudicate all alleged violations of Sandy Springs environmental, building and development codes.

  • Maintain complete and accurate records of all court proceedings.

  • The follow is not appropriate dress for court appearances:

    • Ripped or torn jeans

    • Baggy pants that fall below the waist

    • Shorts

    • Tank tops

    • Halters or bare midriffs

    • Hair curlers or hats

    • Bare feet

    • Muscle Shirts

    • Clothing with emblems that condone illegal or inappropriate activity

    • Clothing depicting violence, sexual acts, profanity or illegal drugs

    • Sunglasses

  • Items Not Allowed into the Courtroom

    • Laptops, Newspapers, Magazines and Large Backpacks

    • Books and Tablet Computers will be allowed into the courtroom.

If you have questions regarding your citation or court appearance, you can telephone the Court at 770-206-2075 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday. You can email the Court at municipalcourts@sandyspringsga.gov.

  • Anyone under the age of 21 must appear in court and bring a parent/legal guardian or proof of emancipation.

  • If you are unsure of your court date and/or time please visit the Online Payment system to look up your information.

  • Citation payments will be accepted online up to 24 hours before your scheduled court date, on in person by 5:00 p.m.on your court date.

  • Payments made after this date must be made in person at the Sandy Springs Municipal Court.

  • Accepted forms of payment include: Master Card, Visa, Money Order, or Cash (in person only).

  • Personal checks will only be accepted in person
